Eurogamer 2013

The Uk’s favourite gaming convention, Eurogamer, will be making its triumphant return to Earl’s Court (London, Uk) this year between the 26^th and 29^th of September. Now in its 6^th year, up to 70,000 gamers will be showing up to try out the scores of unreleased games that will no doubt be populating the con’s ample floor space.

As always there will be developers’ sessions from big names in the gaming industry (I, myself, was fortunate enough to attend the Hideo Kojima session last year with my old colleagues from PlusXp), a section for retro gaming plus a plethora of tournaments to boot. There’s sure to be plenty of gaming merchandise on sale ; Eurogamer 2012 had plenty of little stalls owned by some very notable names, such as InsertCoin and even Square-Enix. In addition ; hunger (and Mountain Dew addiction) was catered for by those most international of candy connoisseurs ; Cybercandy!. 3DSBlessed predict (and hope) that all these companies will be returning to the show floor this year.

At this early stage the Eurogamer team are, understandably, being tight-lipped about which games will be on show this year. But there is no doubt that ticket-holders will be in for a treat. Previous years have seen myself and my friends getting to play virtually every upcoming game we were anticipating at the time. While I must say that, naturally, this fills the 3DSBlessed team with gleeful anticipation as gamers in general, it makes us particularly excited as 3DS players. Because among the many gaming companies that clamour for attention at Eurogamer are our darling Nintendo. And, it must be said, they always put on a stonking show. We simply cannot wait to see what they have lined up for us this year…

There will no doubt be many hidden gems to discover among Eurogamer’s line-up. Indeed, I only got to grips with the 2011 3DS release Super Pokémon Rumble as a result of the con… and to this day its one of my favourite games!

On the business side of things, the Eurogamer team are proud to announce that they have renewed their partnership with the wonderful Virgin Media for the next 2 years. Virgin Media have been instrumental in helping facilitate the magic of recent years. According to Rupert Loman (one of the founding fathers of Eurogamer) ; “they worked hard not only to make the show a success, but also to introduce grassroots initiatives that went beyond the show, benefitting the whole industry and gamers alike”.
